Cynthia Rutherford

Cynthia Rutherford is the eighth child of Raymond and Albertha Rutherford.

She was born in Nassau Bahamas where she remained all of her life.

Cynthia attended The Western Junior and High Schools. Upon leaving school she attended sewing lessons under the tutelage of Doris Cambridge. She became one of the leading seamstresses of her day. Her customers included Her Excellency Dame Marguerite Pindling, Lady Maynard, Lady Christie and Lady Roberts.

Cynthia was christened in the Methodist faith and attended Wesley Methodist all of her life. She was always involved in the work of the church. In her early days she was a Sunday school teacher. As a faithful and dedicated worker she became a member of the Women’s League, a founding member of The Wesley Crusaders and also a founding member of The Thelma Gibson Women’s Group.

Cynthia found time to interact with others and became a member of The People to People Programme since its inception. She was also a Stalwart Councillor of The Progressive Liberal Party.
