A time to be born October 21, 1937 was a very special day for Alphonso and Emma Louise Johnson in Gregory Town, Eleuthera. They were the proud parents of Bernard Gregory Johnson. He was given the name by Bishop Steven Donahue from New York.

Gweneth Theodora Henderson-Lockhart was born March 12th, 1939 in Nassau, Bahamas to the late Thomas and Euphemia Henderson. Her early years was spent in Inagua with her parents. At the age of nineteen she relocated to Nassau where she met and married the late Captain Anton Lockhart. That union produced seven children, Samuel pre-deceased her.

On the beautiful day of November 29th, 1919 Ina Beatrice Harvey affectionately called “Ma”,was born to Margret and Dougal Stephenson of South Caicos Island. She spent her early years in South Caicos and then moved to Matthew Town Inagua, for a period of time working with the Morton’s as a housekeeper. Ina then started sewing which became a passion for her; she sewed for various types of garments for all occasions. After spending many years in Inagua she moved to Nassau, in her early fifties where she continued her dream as a seamstress. Her hobbies were sewing, traveling and babysitting and also faithful member to her Church.

Bernard lived a rich and fruitful life experiencing its joys and despairs; its successes and disappointments, its hopes and dreams. Bernard was loved and respected by family and those who knew him. Bernard was known for his reverberating laughter, his passion, his stubbornness and heated arguments. Bernard was a responsible son, a supportive brother, a loving and faithful husband, a guiding and present father. Bernard Jason Mortimer was a person guided by principles.
