A Time To Born

On April 24th, 1969 a beautiful flower blossomed in the lives of Margaret Phyllis Carey and Robert Outten, her name was Germaine Eloise. Germaine was the third child of four siblings, but always showed signs and skills of a ‘leader’ and took every opportunity to take charge of situations when available.

A Time To Learn

‘Jerry” as she was affectionately called, began her early childhood education in 1974 at the William Phipps Primary School, the C.I.Gibson Jr. High School where she secured 13 B.J.C certificates and finally the Government High School where she successfully obtained 4 GCE certificates and her high school diploma.  Jerry was always thirsty for more knowledge and information so after completing high school she pursued multiple business studies in typewriting and word processing and successfully completed them in 1988.  Her dream to pursue tertiary education became a reality in 1989 when she enrolled at The College of The Bahamas and successfully completed her Associates of Arts Degree in the field of Marketing in 1995.

A Time To Work and Build:

Jerry began her professional career in the Insurance industry and held various positions within those organizations assisting with the day to day running and administrative work with many of them including T. Dan Albury Insurance Agency, Family Guardian Insurance Co. Ltd., Morgan’s Farm Ltd., Allied Bahamas Insurance Company Ltd., and Star General Insurance Agency. To enhance her knowledge in the insurance industry Germaine pursued and gained certification from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).  From 1999 - 2003 Germaine served as Administrative Assistant at CYVSA/Caribbean International Air Conditioning Services. In 2004 Jerry began a 10 year working relationship with William R. Nash (Bahamas) Mechanical & Plumbing Contractors as their Administrative Assistant.

She performed many tasks during her tenure there including working closely with Division and Project Managers, general administrative duties to include payroll and related duties, accounting (book-keeping) and coordinate all personnel requirements for local and international associates as needed.

Her qualities as a leader and a great friend were very noticeable and she was admired and loved by everyone she came in contact with. Her vibrant smile and her positive attitude were contagious as she made daily interactions with many people.

A Time To Die:

In 2008, Jerry was diagnosed with diabetes. However, she overcame that illness and was able to live a normal life. In August 2015, she was hospitalized and diagnosed with kidney ailment. She was placed on dialysis for a while, but taken off shortly thereafter due to her body’s improvements. During this time, Jerry showed her strength and her unwavering faith in God. In February 2016, Jerry had to be admitted to PMH where she was hospitalized and treated for seizures. On April 15th 2016, Jerry was transported to the PMH. After weathering the long storm she quietly slipped away from this life and the Lord relieved her of her earthly suffering.
