Agnes Walkine

Agnes Walkine

1/9/2017 10:49:02 AM

As the day draw close on September 1st, 1948, joy was brought to the proud parents of the late John King and Helen McQuay Demeritte. She was given the name Agnes, the first born of her siblings.

Agnes received her early education at Sts. Joseph Primary School, Western Junior & Western Senior School, upon completion she worked at Ms. Bailey upholstery store on Infant View Road for many years. Being the ambitious person she was she later found employment at the Royal Bank of Canada Limited in February 1969 where she served for 36 wonderful years providing customer service and dedication until her retirement in September 2005.

In 1969, she met and fell in love with Dwaine Clement Walkine (predeceased) on August 21, 1971 they were joined in Holy Matrimony. This union was blessed with three (3) girls namely Annastasia, Monique & Dwainette.

Aggie, as she was affectionately called had an infectious personality and a radiant smile. She was a very loving, humble, and a true definition of Christian lady. Aggie always saw the best in anyone she came in contact with. She was full of grace, loved to travel, an encourager, and a very quiet disciplinarian. She always put her children first in everything she did. Aggie was a great listener, never judgemental you can confide in her about anything knowing that she would not tell a soul. She was very independent and well organized things always had to be in its rightful place. Her loyal and graceful character made her the ‘Mother to all’. Sometimes the phone will ring nonstop with her friends and family of all ages calling daily for laughter and good conversation. Truth is from 12:30pm – 2:00pm that was considered her alone time because she was programmed to watch her Soap Operas. Everyday she would spend countless hours with her granddaughter, who would not give her Grammy no rest their bond was one of a kind.

Aggie was an ardent church goer and a devoted member of her Catholic faith. She served diligently to the Ladies Guild at her parish Sts.Joseph. Anyone who knows Aggie knows she will be bothered by something or just isn’t feeling feel and when asked are you okay her only response would be ‘I’m Alright’ even if it wasn’t so. She never wanted anyone to worry over her. She was a strong lover of Perfumes, Pastries, Flowers, Bags  & Hats. Always dressed from head to toe and a lipstick to match a fashion Diva at its best.

Having lived a full life, Agnes took her last breath on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 9:49 am at Princess Margaret Hospital where she went to be in the presence of her Lord and Saviour. She was a Phenomenal Woman and not one day would go by without her being remembered.
